I had a difficult process. My brother died suddenly with no official will and no designated executor. He lived very much like a hoarder, with junk, valuables, unopened mail, trash, etc. piled everywhere in his small home and garage. He had tax issues, delinquent mortgage, numerous creditors and significant hospital bills. The house had cosmetic, electrical, permit and structural issues. I live in Southern California with health issues of my own.
